Fall 09 new shows

I'm feeling particularly unproductive this morning, so while scanning the blogs for what shows aren't canceled I figured I'd start listing new shows that sound interesting.

First up, ABC has a few: Cougar Town (Courteney Cox), Hank (Kelsey Grammer), and Happy Town sound interesting, but who knows. And apparently Juliet from Lost is in the V remake.

NBC has what appears to be a post apocalyptic Day One, and it appears Jerry Seinfeld has a new series The Marriage Ref (hopeful not a reality series).

Haven't seen CBS or Fox lists yet, other than Cleveland, the Family Guy spinoff.

Another ABC show that sounds interesting, Flash Forward - ABC 2009-10 Schedule Announced

FOx's comedy Son's of Touscon has Reaper's Tyler Labine (Sock) Fox 2009-10 Schedule Announced as a lawyer helping a disfunctional family (or the other way around)

The upcoming program guide along with a synopsis and trailers of new shows can always be found at TheFutonCritic.com - The Web's Best Television Resource. You can also find out the status of virtually every show that's aired in the past couple of years.

FYI - Both of these shows are scheduled to appear in 2010. Jerry Seinfeld is the Executive Producer of The Marriage Ref and not one of the stars, although that doesn't preclude him making a cameo once in a while. The description calls it a comedy-reality series so he could show up as a host.

It looks more like they've cut more good shows than they've added, at least with respect to what I watched during the past season (Cougar Town? Really?). It looks like I'm going to have some free time on my hands this fall for a change.

Re: Fall 09 new shows

Well, since these shows aren't cued up for recording yet, I thought I'd leave a list of what I think is worth trying anyway.

Accidentally on Purpose - 9-21 (Al Bundy and friends)
The Forgotten - 9-22 - maybe, probably not
Flashforward - 9-24
Cleveland Show - 9-27 - will it blend?
Hank - 9-30 (Kelsey Grammer)
Monty Python Almost the truth (sundance miniseries, 10-4) don't know if I even get Sundance anymore

V - November, I have to, its scifi (and probably won't last long)
Son's of Touscon - 2010

Kinda losing interest on Cougar and Happy Towns.

Have to say I like Brent's format for new shows better than Futon, but I use both.

Heh heh heh, uh, no.

Okay, I'll amend my statement to say "... for my wife and me." WE think it's funny, and apparently so do a lot of folks as it has risen in the ratings this summer with reruns.

Defying Gravity looks like it got the ax. TV.com is reporting that there will be no more episodes aired after last nights.

Re: Fall 09 new shows

In Canada it airs Friday night on CTV, so I saw it 2 days early. I happened to be channel surfing the West Coast ABC feeds just as it started on Sunday night. The voice over said "Stay tuned for the Season Finale of Defying Gravity" I immediately googled and found this on wikipedia

Defying Gravity (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quote:
CTV moved the scheduled airing of the show to Friday nights on August 26, 2009,[11] and as of 14 September 2009 (2009 -09-14)[update], online sources have noted ABC's apparent cancellation of the series following the announcement of the eighth episode as the "series finale" without advertising additional episodes.[12] CTV is airing the remaining episodes of the series, as of 14 September 2009 (2009 -09-14)[update]. The show's publicist, Nicole Marostica, issued a statement on 14 September 2009 that ABC is not canceling the show. ABC management is attempting to decide on a time slot to air the remaining 5 episodes of season 1.[13]

So maybe not canceled for you guys and it appears I will get to see them on CTV.

Yup, just confirmed the announcer did say "Season Finale" on my recording of the show.
