Fall 09 new shows

Personally I like this show. Started a little "weak" but grew on me over the next few episodes.

I've been tooling around the various web sites where there are discussions about this show. Seems to me that the vast majority of consumer reviews are highly favorable.

I'm bemused by the some of the viewers who cast negative votes however. They seem to not realize this is Science "Fiction" and not a reality show. They must lead a pretty cloistered life. Adhering only to the strict rules of nature with little ability to embrace the potential entertainment brought about by the "What If?" factor - no matter how implausible it may be. Their parents probably never read them any fairy tales.

One such viewer even complained about how a pregnant astronaunt could slip by all the technology of the day and still be accepted into the program (while pregnant). If he is going to nit-pick details, at least he should try to get those details correct. (she wasn't pregnant) This was explained how and why in a flashback sequence. So I'd have to believe that viewer only watched bits and pieces of the show .. and didn't really absorb the continuing story. Kind of like only reading every 5th chapter out of 50 in a book. And THEN making uninformed comments about the quality of the story.

I hope ABC gives this show a "chance" to develop even further. Personally as a Science Fiction buff .. I like it.

I tried watching it online, but need a proxy to hide my USA location. Instead, I googled for "Defying Gravity" AND "Eve Ate The Apple" for an alternate gray area source. Beware if you go this route, several of the google links currently lead to "antivirus 2009" type malware sites.

We should really finish this in the Defying Gravity thread, but what the hell - ABC still intends to finish Defying Gravity's run ... eventually - TV Squad

So, 5 episodes still to be aired (they did it with Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money), so I have faith in them, otherwise, BT it is.

Anyway, back on topic, after weeks of crawling along with little to record, this week we are exploding with shows. (except tuesday, that's thin for me). So, let's put DG back in its thread where it belongs and focus on new stuff/new seasons.

What!!! You are not exited about CSI:Miami, DWTStars and Castle. Not to mention Two and 1/2 Men!

The pilot for Accidentally on Purpose is sandwiched between HIMYM and 2 1/2.

Ok, got through about half of last night, my thoughts, possible spoilers

Accidently on Purpose - maybe had some moments, I'll probably give episode 2 a shot but I doubt I'll keep watching this.

HIMYM - Watching Ted at his class was like pulling teeth, they need to spend less time on him. Probably no worse than last season, which was ok.

House - at first I didn't think it was that bad, but not that good, then the more I thought about it the more annoyed I was with it. Worst was the rapping, I just cringed. Looks like they're trying to make him smile more, and not sarcastically. Not sure what to expect this season.

Heroes, 2 1/2, didn't get around to these yet, will watch tonight.

Also, Community (from Thursday) sigh, I'll give this a few more episodes, but it makes me sentimental somewhat, thinking back to when Chevy Chase used to be funny. He did so much better in his Chuck cameo.

ARGH! Heroes stopped recording about 1 hr, 20m into it. Ugh, I hope Hulu has it up or if they are going to replay it.

Caught up with Heroes from Monday last night, I was quite pleased. Definitely seems to be going in the right direction. I like the new characters. (Was that Stan Lee as the old guy?) And story seems interesting. Probably the winner for Monday (although I haven't watched Castle yet).

2 1/2 Men also held up.

Me too. I had saved the last 6 or so episodes of Heroes from last season. So during the summer doldrums, I got caught up. I had forgotten that this was going to be the first episode of the new season. Had just finished watching the last episode from last season Sunday night.

Then the new episode popped up, was recorded and life was good. I agree. I like the direction Heroes is going.

Ok, finally getting around to most of the remaining new shows, here are my comments

Modern Family - I like this still after 2 eps. Al Bundy makes it, otherwise it would fall flat.
Cougar Town - First episode was better than expected, haven't gotten around to the second yet, but its promising
Hank - is it me or is this Green Acres redone? I'll give it another episode or two.
Flashforward - really like this one, first 2 eps didn't disappoint, hopefully it doesn't get canceled, I consider it scifi.
Dollhouse - I liked what they did in the first episode, looks like they're gonna keep bringing in BSG actors, and Summer is coming this season, as well as Alpha again.
Cleveland Show - I've heard its like Family guys without the humor, and that's how I feel abo0ut it. I might drop this sooner than later. At least American Dad is improving, almost dropped that last year.

I'm still going to give the community Accidently on purpose one more episode, but those may get dropped soon. House definitely improves with the second episode, Sons of Anarchy looks strong. same with Sunny Phil and Office, and I decided to check out The Forgotten. Only other new show starting soom is Secret Girlfriend on Comedy Central, we'll see if that lasts.
