BSG Premier Friday 1/16

http://io9.com/5130722/your-dvr-may-...ars-big-reveal

I don't know of BTV's listings show the correct time or not. Regardless, you might want to double-check.

Just to be safe, I'm going to pad the episode by a few minutes.

Can anyone check their listings and report whether the listing is correct (Ends at :04?)

I checked mine, it runs 64 minutes, so all is good.

Re: BSG Premier Friday 1/16

they broke my show what was up with last nights episode. I am not happy with how this is going.

I will post more once I know people have seen it because you can't discuss it without spoilers.

Re: BSG Premier Friday 1/16

Haven't you been reading the spoiler reports? This is pretty much what I was expecting. I thought the show was great, lacks action but that will be coming. It's going to end on a pretty dismal note. According to Olmos, "no one should watch this show."

Re: BSG Premier Friday 1/16

Dude. They broke this show back in season 3. I wanted to see strong people doing great things, and instead we got Starbuck freaking out, Apollo falling for a hooker, and Tyroll and Callie...

I have a hard time liking anybody any more, at least until the last couple of episodes. They're suddenly showing their stuff. At least until tonight.

But honestly, how would you react in their situation ? Most people would just curl up in a ball and give up.

Re: BSG Premier Friday 1/16

I was really disappointed with this episode. It was boring, made me wonder why I like this show. Hopefully it gets interesting again, I'm not giving up yet.

Spoiler follows:
Plus, it seemed like they showed proof two new people are cylons, starbuck cuz she found her old body and saul's wife cuz saul remembered her alive back on earth.... I guess its just another twist to keep us wondering...

Re: BSG Premier Friday 1/16

Episode Quality: Man that was depressing. I'm hoping this is the bottom of the hole and they start to climb up. I couldn't take another 9 episodes like that.

Starbuck: I'm fairly confident in saying that she is not a Cylon. Logically speaking, Cylons would most likely recognize another cylon once they got under the hood yet that didn't happen.

So why was there a Kara body? Well we don't know for sure it was her. It seemed to be her but you know this show that without 100% proof this show borrows from Lost to frustrate viewers.

-Possible explanations:
Cloned - cylons still on Earth cloned her dead body and sent her back with a cloned ship. Possibly to hitch a ride?

Time Travel - As much as the thought makes me cringe, there are hints about time travel here. The final 5 have specific memories of Earth implying they came from Earth 2000 years ago. Kara could have crashed on Earth in some weird warp thing and she found her future body. Yeah I hate that explanation too.

She is a cylon but one of the Earth models not the ones from the 12 colonies.

That wasn't her body, only dressed up to look like her by someone.

Ellen Tigh: A Cylon what? Wait huh? Um. I thought the final 5 were one off models. The actress hints that she has more to do than just dream sequences and flashbacks so perhaps she got reborn after being poisoned.

Re: BSG Premier Friday 1/16

Ok, this thread now has spoilers so don't read if your not up to date.

The 12 cylons include 5 from Earth, that are 2000 years old and don't resurrect at least the way the other 7 do. They all are duplicates of their original selves who died on earth. COnsidering they've been alive 2000 years, my guess is that they have their own resurrection hub different from the other cylons. That means Ellen will be coming back, in fact the Ellen we saw in the first season was probably a replacement for one that got killed during the cylon attack. I assume they will start showing flashbacks that show the 5 earth cylons explaining what started the war, why they setup their resurrection hub, and what they were doing for 2000 years manipulating humans. Anyone remember when the other 12 colonies left Kobol? Anyway, expect Ellen to come back and maybe Tigh will die so he can get his eye back. (doubt it, they think the eyepatch is badass)

Starbuck, yeah, she must have gone through some inter dimensional shit. Since this has happened before, maybe she went through a cloner from a previous cylon race? I doubt the crashed viper is her in the future, doesn't explain why her viper looks brand new, had to be a cloning. Also, another flaw in writing, remember the cylons ran into a beacon they thought was from earth with a human vrus that killed cylons? Why would cylons on earth have human viruses? EIther something else was in play or they hadn't worked out the end at the time.

Now, the bad news. The series will get a lot worse before it gets better. Humans will probably wipe most of themselves out before they run into Cavil and the other cylons again. In face, I think the final war will be mostly cylon against cylon with humans helping. Most everyone will get killed but they'll have just enough humans and now human like cylons to move forward. And another point, just because they were at a planet called earth does not mean it is our Earth. That could have been what they called the cylon planet, but the survivors from the final war may end up settling on a new plaetn, maybe one with primitive humanoids, and calling that earth. Maybe the goal of the final 5 was to break the cycle of violence, or maybe we are destined to make cylons and have them destroy us.

Either way, I still like the writing. I knew it was going to be dark and nasty, and I wish it had more of that season 1 and 2 mystery and excitement. But, that said, they have built up hype and are writing 10 episodes as one, meaning really unless you watch them all together you will likely be disappointed episode to episode. I prefer the 3-5 episode arcs, better week to week but they have to make a really powerful ending so we'll see what happens.

Re: BSG Premier Friday 1/16

If all the episodes are going to be this dark and depressing it will be hard to watch them.

(Spoiler but I doubt you need it as you've made it this far)

Last week we had a ruined Earth with Roslin losing it, the suicide, Starbuck's wierd find and resulting freak out.

Now we get a depressed fleet, Roslin giving up on fighting, Starbuck is even worse, Gaeta working toward a mutiny, Cali cheated, etc.

Next week? Oh good a mutiny. Fun!

Well another 8 episodes (10 hours) left. I hope it doesn't end like this.

Sadly it probably will, with a token glimmer of hope or something. At least its good writing.

Re: BSG Premier Friday 1/16

I actually liked Episode 12 last night. I thought it was much better than last weeks. I like the mutiny. I am still not feeling Ellen as the fifth cylon. hopefully it will continue building up. I would like to see Gaeta go out an airlock in the next episode!

Re: BSG Premier Friday 1/16

I agree, I saw the previews with Andres facing execution (while I think it would not hurt the path forward killing him now, I hope they don't, I'm more concerned about killing Adama or Tigh early, which I wouldn't put past them) and I think Gaeta is gonna get gone, (probably due to Starbuck, bad decision) and I think they will continue to make things more interesting, depressive overtones and all.

ANd I hear Zarek goes down swinging, look forward to that.

Don't worry about Adama. Saul Tigh on the other hand I don't know. I can see him getting killed.
