Amazing Race 12 - With Google Map

Not sure if there are any Amazing Race fans here, but I thought I'd mention it is airing tonight - and you'll need to set it up as a new recording since they use the "12" in the episode name. I had "Amazing Race 11" in my recordings list, but 12 didn't show up since it shows on the guide as "Amazing Race 12".

The Amazing Race is one of the few reality shows that match my geeky love of maps and geography with a race. Cmon' you can't have more fun than this in Reality TV programming right......

Anyway, I've started a Google Map of the Amazing Race 12 and all of their destinations. I've started it with the fairly detailed and accurate rumors posted on some forums so I have a decent start on the locations the contestants will be visiting this season. I'll update it each episode with some photos from the show and other information. Just something for this geography/TV geek to pass the time.

Check out the map HERE on my Geek Tonic blog
Brent

Way cool. I will check out it.

Looks like about a 30 minute delay tonight.

Good stuff, Brent. My wife and I are AR junkies, so we'll be following along. I heard a nasty rumor that AR12 may be the final season?! Hope that's not the case, but then again, all good things must come to an end.

I can't believe there is any way that is true unless ratings tank this season. Anyway, Zogg is right about the delay. Be sure you put a good 30minutes (at least) padding at the end of Amazing Race due to the Sunday games always running late.

Wife and I are also junkies. Didn't watch last season's "all-star" cause we knew we couldn't stand the contestants. Hope they don't do that again!

Re: Amazing Race 12 - With Google Map

before I hijack this thread, that is very cool Brent.

But I have to complain about CBS. I completely forgot about CBS starting their prime time shows late because of sports and only half of Amazing Race taped for us. Really, how many people really watch 60 Minutes? Luckily, the wife is not upset about it, in fact, I am the one that is more upset. I have added an hour padding to the end to prevent this from happening in the future.

Software: SageTV - I spent $130 to find an integrated solution.

Media Extender: 2 x HD-100

Yep, that's happened to us many times over on Sundays. My wife and kid even remind me to add padding to the end of all shows on Sundays these days its happened so many times before.

Re: Amazing Race 12 - With Google Map

Great job!!!!!

I have quit watching the show, but I'm going to follow it with your maps. The geography is more interesting than the show.

Thanks.

Re: Amazing Race 12 - With Google Map

Thanks for the feedback guys. It started as an experiment and grew into a bit more. I've actually had several people e-mail me analyzing the route I have layed out for the future legs of the race!

Anyway, it's been kind of fun. And makes me pay more attention to the locations the teams visit.
