Dual tuner, dual video?

I have the Hauppauge (dual tuner) PVR500 and it works great. I can schedule a recording and watch a show simultaneously. But when I'm not recording, I have an unused tuner.

How can I utilize the second tuner? A second occurrance of BTVD3DShell would work, kind of like PIP. It would also allow me to access the ViewScape without loosing a delayed viewing of "live" TV. Is this possible?

Not possible unfortunately. BTV does not support multiple instances, nor PIP.

The only software PVR that I can think of that offers PIP is MythTV. Of course that's linux and has limited hardware support.

If you have a second PC you could always run a copy of BTV Link to access the second tuner. I have two displays on my desk...I can't be the only one.

You could also use the web interface to disable one of the tuners in BTV and use whatever TV viewer software came with your card. You'd have to remember to re-enable that for simultaneous recording to work...

To take this a step further (if PIP was really that important), you could connect a link and a server (or two links) to your TV and use the PIP function on your TV

You'd need two Firefly remotes on separate channels to control them both however.
