Exclamation Comcast Digital Cable aka NHL Center ICE

Hi all,

I'm in the process of building a HTPC shortly but the main issue thats holding me back from actually going forward with it is digital cable or more direct: NHL Center Ice PPV.

I have Comcast Digital here in San Francisco. I have a subscription to NHL Center Ice package. The channels that these games are on, are 461-469. My Tivo can record these channels just fine.

But I want to record the games, transfer them from the SnapStream/HTPC to my workstation and then BURN the select games onto VCD/DVD for replay purposes (I teach hockey and watching plays is a great learning tool).

My Question is this: Can a Hauppauge PVR-250 combined with SnapStream3.3 record DIGITAL CABLE and at such high channel numbers??? If not, what do I need in order to record such high channels.

I know that on Hauppauge.com it says that the PVR250 only has 125 channel limit. Does that mean channels 1-125 or ANY 125 channel combination?

Any help, guidance or suggestions are appreciated.

yeah it can but it will have to do the same thing your tv would do, attach an ir blaster doohiky to the cable box then hook the cable box upto the computer/tuner then snapstream would "learn" the cable boxes remote and be able to control the cable box. that is assuming that the listing service for snapstream provides listings for your cable companies ppv stations, you can always check that out by downloading the trial and setting up a snapstream.net account and seeing if the guide offers the channels you want to record.

the pvr is like a standard tv (as are all tv tuner cards) they can only receive standard cable and over the air broadcasts (antenna) so in order to record the higher/digital channels you would have to use a cable box with the pvr/tuner card just as you would with a standard tvset.
