getting rid of those clicking sounds

How can I do it. As far as I can see that's the only bad part of PVS so far. It's very annoying to hear those clicking sounds when you are pausing or fast forwarding a movie (most of the time, they're much louder than the audio track of the movie or tv). Anyways, does anybody know how to get rid of them?

One way is to just delete the sounds.

in your PVS installation directory is a /FSMedia/Sounds folder. Delete the appropriately named wav and bam, instant no sound. There may be a way to do so in the web UI (bad employee! for not knowing this) but I deleted my wavs long ago so I can't recall anymore.

Alternatively, you can technically put any wav into there and if it's appropriately named, you'll hear it playback when the proper event fires. There've been some rather amusing uses of that in house in the past.

another idea is just hit Q on your keyboard when you are watching a show... it should then be quiet...

what does "q" do, and do you have to do it everytime it starts - usually there's not even a keyboard connected to the system.. so far deleting the wav files sounds like the best idea.

thanks for the responses

q works great but I would actually like to have the sounds, but just not so loud. Any chance of getting a batch of quieter wav files or does someone have the time to fiddle with the files and provide 1/2 volume whirs and click files?

why don't you open up sound recorder, found in all windows systems, and edit it yourself to the volume you want. When you open it with sound recorder, you can select Effects > Decrease volume.
