usb wireless card problem

Hi all,
If I connect my Linksys WUSB 11 wireless 802.11b usb card to my computer the snapstream video gets very jittery and pauses a lot. As soon as I disable the network though things return to normal. At first I thought maybe the card was hoggin CPU cycles but its not. Does anyone else use a WUSB 11 card and if so any problems?

I have version 2 of the WUSB11 card and do not have any problems relating to snapstream. I use Windows XP HE.

Hmm I have V2.6, this is the external USB card correct that you are using?

What kind of a processor do you have?

Yes it is the external one. I have a Duron 700MHz (very flash I know!) and still get good quality recordings and live tv.

Have you tried leaving the USB card plugged in and then starting snapstream? I leave mine attached the whole time.

If you are watching a film in say windows media player, does the video go jittery when the card is plugged in?

If you're using 128 bit WEP with that card it's a major hog. I have 2 of them, and a PCCard version of it too and they all three have major issues with dropping the network and very poor throughput when WEP is enabled. Thankfully I live in an area where turning WEP off is not a concern, and I have my router locked to the MAC addresses of my cards in my computers only, an unfamiliar card will not get on the lan

weezul,
i turned off wep for a bit and the problem sort of went away but then came back. With wep on I can watch about a minutes worth of TV and then it starts stuttering, with wep off i could watch about 5 minutes before it came on. Really annoying, now im going to have to put wire all over the place.

You might want to also consider what bitrate you're playing back, if it's not a big bandwidth hog bitrate you'll be fine, but in general I don't find wireless 11b to be good for anything but generic surfing.
