Using with Cable Box

I've got my cable box hooked up to my tuner card and I always leave my tuner card on channel 4. Right now it just thinks I'm watching whatever is on channel 4 when I am reallly on another channel on my cable box. Is there any way I can still use the program guide in snapstream for program info and "record this episode" purposes?

you would have to setup snapstream to have the guide data for your video source, then modify the video source so that it locks the channel on the tuner to 4. to do this:
WebAdmin->Configure->Advanced->Video Sources->Edit->Lock tuner (little checky box)->TunerChannel 4

then save it

now the tuner will always stay on 4 so you can see your box, however this still requires that you control the box so that it is on the appropriate channel. to allow snapstream to control your cable box you will need to look into one of the various methods of doing this, there is an article on how to configure IR/Serial communication using a variety of methods on the community site:

I just tried this, however, when I change the channel via snapstream it still changes my tuner from channel 4 to whatever channel I selected. Does the lock only apply to when it does recordings itself?

you might also have to change the tuner interface in the advanced properties on that page to the null tuner so that it leaves the tuner on the hauppauge alone

You haven't properly locked your tuner if it's still changing channels on the tv card itself.
