front end?

I need a front end for my HTPC so it starts at boot and I can use the remote to play movies from network directorys, start apps (snapstream), etc. Before I start digging I was wondering what you all recommend as I'm sure you all are using something good.

Brad,

I, too, use myHTPC with SnapStream, as your guide suggests. However, what I want to do is have myHTPC tell SnapStream to play a specific file, bypassing SnapStream's Library.

Can you suggest a way to do this? Can it be done with the command line?

Thanks,
Soundman

I was contacted by one of the dev team people about these upcoming things.. it seems it's one of the upcoming features, but no time table has been set on it just yet. (playing a file when requested)

It's good to hear it's on the list. I really need this to deal with shows that I haved archived onto CD or DVD as WMV files. Currently, there is no friendly UI to play them back. When SS supports command line playing, I will make myHTPC browse the removable media drive and command SS to play what I select.

I suppose that I could use a third party player, but I have not found any other than Snapstream that is suitable for playback on a TV using only an IR remote for user input.

Thanks for the tip about Zoom Player. I'll have to check it out. I hope it's not expensive

Unhappy

Brad,

I just installed the latest "stable" version of Zoom Player (3.10), and I can't get much of anything to work. I posted a query to their forum here: http://forum.inmatrix.com/ikonboard/...f=7&t=2420&st=

If you have any suggestions, I would be grateful.

Thanks,
Soundman
