how to set tv as primary display, nvidia card

Hi all,
Im having a problem with Snapstream, the interface comes up but when I ask to watch TV it goes to a white screen and then nothing happens. The debug console shows NV NVDX FIFO channel errors and this locks up my machine in such a way that no other application can use the hauppauge card, i.e. sage tv or wintv2000. I have to reboot.

I read in another thread that for DX9 and overlay etc to work the monitor connected to your computer has to be the primary monitor. Since my computer is only connected to my TV is the TV the primary or do I have to do something to force the display to be primary?

Yes you do. Are you using a GeForce video card. You will need the computer hooked up to a normal monitor inorder to get the output setup for your TV. Once setup, then you can use just your TV monito. Post back and I'll walk you through it.

bobbysue,
i have a PNY Verto geforce fx 5200 videocard with two vga outputs and a tv out. Can you help me with setting the tv as primary?

Currently i have just the tv connected (i even installed winxp that way, i.e. no computer monitor) and i can see my desktop but snapstream refuses to run for me and I have a feeling it is this primary monitor crap that is the issue...would appreciate a walkthrough.
thanks in advance

Okay go to display properties, then the advanced tab at bottom, Click on the GeForce FX5200 Tab. Now the way I set mine up was that I had it hooked up to my PC monitor and s-video connected to TV. Click detect displays. I have mine set for Standard (Dualview) but clone works if you want out to Monitor and TV. You'll of course want to make your TV the primary display by putting a mark in the box at bottom. Then what I do is shut down, unhook PC monitor and reboot the PC. The Tv should now be your primary display. You can adjust the fit of the screen by using the device setting tab at bottom of window. Hope that helps. You do have an s-video cable to run from your GeForce to your TV right?
