one nice thing about tivo

The one thing that seems a bit annoying about SS is the lack of "surf" mode.

My sat allows me to bring up a guide that overlays the live image and see what is on the guide, my Tivo also does the same thing.

With SS it appears you have to back completely out of your LiveTV or your recorded show to view the guide.

Hopefully, this is something they will add in the very near future (better guide during playback and live tv).

I also don't like the fact that I can't forward/rewind to "tick" marks. Tivo has tick marks and when FF you click forward it will jump to that mark. I think they are in like 15 minute increments or something. I see the marks on SS just don't know how to forward to them.

I am just learning my way around SS though so maybe I missed something.

Another thing I noticed tonight is that we were watching a show that was being recorded, of course pauses came into play, and when the show finished recording it jumped to live TV.

The biggest complaint so far from the non-technical people in the house is that Tivo was much more user friendly in the menu and getting around.

I think when those issues are addressed Tivo is going to have a hard time competing.
