Question Setup questions?

Hi,
I'm considering building a system specifically for snapstream.
I have a few questions.

1)If I have a tuner card wtih svideo in and svideo out, can I plug the dvd player into the tuner card and the tuner to the tv. Then switch between DVD, cable tv, and programs I've recorded with SS?

2)I want to connect the system to my Sony 5.1 surround sound. How do I do that? with a 5.1 sound card that connects to the surround sound?

3) what is the tv tuner of choice?

Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Paul

Is this possible then?

Thanks for the info!
Can I have coax into the tv tuner, dvd svideo into the tuner and a separate video card with svideo out to the tv?
If so, how would I switch between sending dvd output and cable programs to the tv?
