Questions about streaming for Pocket PC's

I'd like to set up my PVS recordings for streaming to a pocket PC. I haven't yet bought the pocket PC yet. I'd like to know how well (if at all) the streaming is using 802.11b wireless to a pocket pc and what is the hardware requirements of the Pocket PC for good video, full 320x240 resolution, and close to no frames dropped.

Also, which res/quality/codec is recommended for viewing on the Pocket PC?

I was looking at either the Toshiba e750/e755 with wifi or the Dell Axim with wifi expansion, both at 400MHz CPU's. Will the 300MHz versions work?

I really enjoy using PVS and would like to add this capability if possible.

Thanks,
Alex

I have the Axim deluxe. I only tested this ability on 3.1 using my ATI card to capture. It worked excellently. No codecs needed, everything is in WMP. Unfortunately, after installing my Hauppauge card, no more streaming (MPEG encoder only), but oh well. Watching TV on the PPC was just candy for me. I prefer higher bitrates and a nice 32 inch TV.

Bottom line - if you want to have streaming, most vid cap cards work well, and the results are very acceptable.

PS - the Pocket PC is still not beefy enough to display video in the same manner and quality as the desktop. Much more than 15 frames per second at less than the resolution you specified still tanked my 400 mhz Dell... 802.11b isn't the problem. The PPC is simply incapable of much more than 300kb (kiloBit) transfer rate. This is quite a bit less than the 802.11b standard has to offer...

As I posted earlier, the Mobile Windows 2003 seems to handle the media better than the past versions. I still need to sit down and see how high I can crank the settings and still get response from the 5455.
