Question intelligent recording?

Does SnapStream have intelligent recording like SageTV?

Here is a quote from SageTV...."SageTV uses proprietary algorithms to determine your viewing habits and automatically record shows of interests"
Thanks.

Our opinion is that nobody knows more about what you like to watch than you do.

But seriously, no we don't do that yet, but we know some people really value this feature and we'll be integrating it soon. In the mean time, if you like a show, just record it! Using automatic recompression to Windows Media, you can store up to 5 times the amount of shows in the same amount of space.

Another alternative until SnapStream comes up with their own solution is http://www.mybestbets.tv I have started using this however I am not sure if I like it or not yet. It has caught a couple shows that I am glad I didn’t miss but it also has suggested some that I would not be caught dead watching. However since its summer and there are not many new episodes (or new shows) on right now so I’m going to wait till fall when things are in full swing before I decide if I want to stick with their service or not.

Oh yeah, and its free.

Interesting jkoon, very interesting ...

I have signed up for www.mybestbets.tv and played around with it a bit.

I kinda like the interface and how it offer suggestions by categories, allowing you to refine or ask for more suggestions for today, tomorrow and upcoming. Nice feature set.

The true test will be how "smart" it becomes about my preferences and adjust what it suggests to me.

If I could have that kind of interface, allowing me to select either the full schedule listing (the current way under SnapStream) or the suggestions (the way mybestbets does) and then select something for recording, sending the recording to my PVS setup, it would be great ! I think this is simillar to what PVS 2 was doing with the Titan schedule (never used PVS 2, jsut flirted with it).

It would be interesting to see if there is an opportunity for MyBestBets and SnapStream to partner .... hmmm ?

Thanks for the info. I personally don't care too much for the feature but the wife does. To get a HTPC in our tv room I need to make it easy to use and feature rich for her, what a task!

Yeah I can not live without Intelligent Recording. I could just take the time to search out all the shows I want to record but it is so painless to have it done automatically for me. Where it realy comes in handy is with movies. I love coming home and having dozens of great movies that I have not seen waiting for me.

Im hoping that when you include this it will use the data in the local DB and be based around stuff like the title, the description, and catagory, rather than making changes to the guide data itself, otherwise its going to exclude a lot of international users not using SS.net.
