Help

I have been using trial versions of Snapstream and Sage TV for the last few days. My initial impression was to go with Snapstream because of the interface and other reasons.

To make a long story short, I can't get PVS3 to run anymore. It gives me a "Can't initialize decoder engine " message or something similar.

Reinstalling did not correct the problem.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Some more information would greatly help:

Exact error message:

Log File when this message is generated:
(located on xp/2k at: c:\documents and settings\all users\documents\snapstream\personal video station\log)

Do you still have any of sageTV's components running in the background? If so then it may be preventing snapstream from accessing the tuner device.

Have you tried re-running the hardware wizard?

Have you changed the drivers for the capture device since snapstream was installed?

Thanks

for the quick reply...i was a bit frustrated when I posted the message.

The problem started before using SageTV, I installed it after PVS3 stopped working.

I did rerun the setup wizard, also uninstalled and installed.

I updated the PVR-250 drivers after installing PVS3 (with the drivers recommended in the knowledge base)

I don't have the log file handy but will post it shortly.

Thanks again

you may need to remove snapstream (completely) and then follow the removal/installation instructions provided on the supported device page:
http://www.snapstream.com/Products/P...VS3_SysReq.asp
and then reinstall snapstream, changing the drivers can annoy snapstream because it causes the devices unique id to change. You will also want to make sure that you have the latest drivers installed for your motherboard's chipset, video card, sound card, and that DX9 is installed. You might also want to check the device manager and make sure that the pvr card isnt sharing an irq with any other devices, this often causes lockups and problems with the newer drivers.
