Program Guide in the Program Doesn't work.

I currently run PVS 3.1 (trial). I am testing it out on my laptop, with no TV tuner card.

Upon opening the applications Program guide it says "updating program information" and then goes away and still the program guide remains un-updated.

But if I open the Web Admin and view the program guide, it is visible.

Any clue?

also, is there a way to customize the menu selections on the PVS 3.1? I am testing out myHTPC, and I really like the additional menu's and functions you can add.

Thanks!!

The menu functions in snapstream are hard coded, if you are the guide you see in the web interface is not running on your machine it is being sucked live off the web from snapstream.net

If your local guide is not updating then you might want to check the log files to see if there are any errors regarding the database though I doubt there will be as this error seems to not cause any messages.

You can also force an update using the web interface under options -> snapstream.net settings

when you enter the guide in the fsui or windowed ui does the guide show the proper channel listing? (ie does it say that channel 4 is xxxx where xxxx is the normal call sign of that station, like here 4 is wtvx and 11 is wflx)

if it is not showing the proper channels than there is something not setup properly with the database.

Make sure that you've run the setup wizard and that you've created a SnapStream.Net account through the setup wizard (otherwise SnapStream.Net doesn't know what kind of schedule data to send you).

I have setup my ss.net account properly.

The GUI does not show any channel information, nor listings. Everything says UNAVAILABLE. Even the channels are listed as "0".

The web-interface shows the channels and lineups just fine.

As for the menu's. I'd like to use SnapStream as my PC front end, be able to access my files, launch games, Possibly RDP to another networked PC.

Thanks!!

open up control panel and go into administrative tools, open the DataSources ODBC applet up, goto the system dsn tab.

on that tab do you have an entry listed as:
SS_PERSONALVIDEOSTATION_DATABSE Microsoft Access

plese check the following path to see if this file (SS_PVS_DB.mdb) exists:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Personal Video Station

you might also want to try the debug viewer (http://snapstream.com/download/debug.zip) and see if there are any database related messages in there.

Yes the ODBC connection is present and Acccess DB is present.

I cannot tell if the DB is populated since it has a password.

I run that program, and it pops up an error- No Hardward Capture Device.

Remember, I'm only running this on my laptop for testing purposes at this point.. Am I doing something wrong.

Thanks,

not avi cap, run dbgview

start debugview and then startup snapstream (ie have it not running first then run debug view then start snapstream)

there are 3 programs in that archive 2 are for debugging graphics/tuner problems, the third (dbgview) is used for seeing the debug logs from snapstream because it provides more verbose logs than the normal logs, the debug logs often help pinpoint where there is a problem

OK,

I have no idea what to tell you my log shows the same exact startup messages with the exception that yours doesnt have any of the SQL commands that normally get spit out.

Try this:
1) Close down snapstream completely (make sure its not running in the tray
2) Open this folder and delete the file (SS_PVS_DB.mdb) if there is a .ldb file delete it as well
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Personal Video Station
3) make a copy of the file (SS_PVS_DB.mdb.clean) and rename the copy to (SS_PVS_DB.mdb)
4) start snapstream up and go into the web interface -> configure -> snapstream.net settings -> download channel lineup and download program guide information. wait a while since it will be repopulating the database (the log window in snapstream should indicate when it is done)
5) check and see if there is any guide data in the fsui

also check windows update and see if you have any updates out there for MSDAC or MSJet

What's the size of your database? just simply looking at its size will be an indicator of if its populated or not (though it won't necessarily tell us if it is fully populated)..
