Getting more involved with SS

Well -- I've recently learned about this secret that is SS, and immediately d/l and installed it. I was so impressed that the next day I bought new hardware to run it on and have my system all but running at 100% -- and I already need a bigger HD to save my stuff to (so I'm going to get a faster one as well to hopefully improve the occasional frame skips)

ANYWAY - the point :

I want to become more involved with SS what other outlets are there? What does one have to do to get into the beta testing groups?

Thanks

your newest evengalist -

d

re: 100%, if you mean by high CPU use, there is some known inefficiencies with the MPEG2 decoder we use. 3.2 (in beta testing now) allows you to choose your own codec, and users have been reporting significant performance boosts.

Additionally, if you reallly wanna get PVS smokin', look into getting a hardware capture card that does hardware encoding, though we also support devices from Adaptec, the Hauppage 250/350 cards are the card du jour around these parts.

As for entering the beta testing for various updates, fixes, new features, etc., if you're a paid customer, go to http://betaprogram.snapstream.com and sign on up.

Good luck and welcome

my 100% reference was refereing to the remote and IR blaster that UPS just delivered and is sitting at my front door waiting on me to get home from work.

I noticed I have committed a fax paux - neglected to submit my HTPC specs.

Celeron 2.2ghz
640MB RAM (PC2100)
40GIG drive (although i think it is a slow one)
PVR 250 (Originally have soem pinnacle crap and the difference is night and day)
Radeaon 9000
Dlink 802.11b wireless card (need to upgrade to 802.11g to adequately stream it)

I will have to sign up for the beta work at home -- as i don't have my key here--

thanks!

If you have any questions on setting up your ACTISYS, let me know... I have worked extensivley with Bob *creator of HE Remote app* on figuring out how best to setup He Remote for use with snapstream.. (as you may of noticed, the ACTISYS isn't supported officially by snapstream anymore)

Bob has created a great app to get the Actisys working properly with most cable boxes, and hopefully my little help post will help you get up and running a little easier! I'll even be creating a website, help guide, for getting the actisys working wonderfully with snapstream, as well as some tweaks for snapstream and links to good posts here at snapstream on how to get the most from your box.

So, overall, when you get your actisys hooked up, don't expect it to work with snapstream, as it doesn't do a reliable job.. but don't fret, with HE Remote, it's going to work just fine.

heres the link to my HE Remote post, with some helpful insight into the app
