ATI Remote Auto-Repeat?

When I use my ATI remote with SnapStream, anything button I push repeats infinitely. For example, I push the down arrow to move to the next selection, and the thing just keeps going down forever. The only way I can make it stop is to close the program. Do I have something configured incorrectly? Has anyone seen this one before?

Not quite like that, but I noticed that my ATI remote was unresponsive or whacked out.

I replaced the batteries with some Duracells (even though the remote was brand new!) and that solved a lot of my problems.

Just a thought.

some things of note for those remotes (and the x10 ones as they are basically identical) is that the receiveers dont like some motherboards as they dont provide enough power to the device, some have found that pluggin the receiver into a POWERED usb hub gives them better responsiveness and longer distance

Hm, that's good to know, as my reception does not appear to be as good as many folks say. I'll try that and let you know...

Hey, WOW, that totally made a difference! My range used to be just one room, now I can go anywhere in my apartment! Cool!

ati remote auto-repeat

I have the same exact problem with the ATI remote repeating the arrow key presses. It doesn't seem like it could be a reception problem since it always happens, whether I am right next to the remote receiver or on the other side of the house. I guess I'll have to try and test a powered usb hub and see if that works, I'm bummed if that's the problem though since I would rather not have another set of cables dangling off the pc. Has anyone else encountered this problem and found alternative solutions?

tested with powered hub

Well, it's not a lack of power via usb thats causing this - I tried using a powered USB hub and running the ATI dongle through it and the same problem still exists - any directional keypress on the ATI remote just gets repeated endlessly by snapstream. Is no one else running into this issue? If you are and solved it please say how you fixed it.

I guess my next step is to follow the girder tutorial and try and get girder running to control snapstream.

repeat problem

I solved my repeating problem by upgrading the ATI remote wonder driver and reinstalling SS.
