Any suggestions?

I am using a ATI radeon 7500 connected to a TV. I have been trying since day one to figure out what causes this and I thought I would ask if anyone here as seen it. The output of the 7500 is connected via a svideo cable to a TV. That is the only display on this system. Everything not just video shakes slightly back and forth. The video that are recorded look great when played back on my other system or if archived to DVD. It is not the recordings, it is all displays produced. I have tried playing with refresh which I have set @ 60 hz since it is a TV. I am using catalyst 3.4 drivers. It has done this with every release of driver that has come out, I have not tried the latest ATI. I don't think that is it. I just downloaded catalyst 3.6 but I thought I would ask before I updated. Maybe I just need to get a better video card.

have you tried different (ie shielded) svideo cables? computers put out a crap load of signal noise

without shielded cables on my second system in sig there is a noticable horizontal bar of brighter color (washes out pixels below) that runs up the screen and is approx 1" high every 10-15 seconds but if I use a shielded cable the noise goes away. I use a set of nice high def signal cables that I bought at circuit city the video cable is almost 1/4" in diameter and the singal quality is so crisp

Running the cable near anything with a transformer (power bricks), florecent lights, over approx 15Meters, or near anything with High Voltage will cause signal noise.

You may have also just gotten a card with a flaky tv encoder chip (try another system and see if it also causes this problem)

just some ideas hope it helps

Not that this will help you much, but I have the same video card and have not had any problems like that. I'm using a pretty cheap s-video cable and my PVR is sitting right next to the TV also.

When you say everything shakes can you be a bit more specific?

Is it moving up and down vertically or shifting left to right (vertical or horizontal sync problem)?

Are you getting a ripple in the picture (i.e. individual lines are being shifted in a sinusoidal modulated manor)?

Are you getting modulation of the picture (i.e. banded lines, imprints of other images)?

You may wish to disconnect any other inputs that you have to the TV, leaving only your PVR connection through the S-Video. On my TV (Panasonic) I get faint print through from whatever channel is tuned to on the tuner input - its a bugger but not much I can do about it till I buy a new TV. If this print through is strong enough it may be affecting sync of your PVR/S-video connection.

If you have other connectors on the TV you may want to try other inputs to see if that makes a difference. I suspect that it is a TV problem rather than a card problem or a quality of lead issue.

Actually it moves to the left and down. For example I see the background image of the SS logo shaking in FSUI. Its funny the text doesn't seem to do it. I even see it in the background of the windows desktop, but open windows don't seem to show it. I don't notice any type of print through as you called it. Those are some good suggestions, also thanks for the other input as well. I will play with it and let you know. Thanks again.

I was having problems with my AIW 8500DV untill I uninstalled the drivers and then re-installed from the CD, and upgraded ONLY the WDM Capture driver from the ATI site.

Might be worth a shot if nothing else works
