Talking snapstream to full screen tv via tv-out?

hey everybody,

I'm thinking about going with snapstream as well but just wanted to make sure the scenario I'm hoping to set up here works out.

If I have
- All In Wonder Radeon 9700 Pro
- connected to both monitor and television

will snapstream run on the connected TV, in full screen, while I use the pc on the monitor?

thanks in advance

- j-ro

From what I've seen so far, no, but that may depend more on your TV Out card than PVS...

In my situation, I've dedicated a machine to PVS...

I have another machine with ShowShifter and a Matrox G400 video card. Thanks to the "DVDMax" feature of the G400, that machine can have full screen TV out while also being used to surf the web and such.. Though, I have noticed that if you scroll with your mouse scroll wheel that it breaks up the TV image....

well the setup that I have currently with this Radeon All In Wonder ... it basically treats the tv as a second (low res) monitor. So I'm regularly moving windows over to the tv and full-screen'ing them on there for display purposes (or to watch a dvd on the tv instead of monitor).

If snapstream has both a windowed and full screen mode I would imagine it would work ok. eg :
- restore snapstream to a "window" state
- drag to 2nd monitor (television)
- full screen it within 2nd monitor

voila ... anyone know if this is possible?

PVS can be set up so that the FSUI starts up automatically on the primary monitor, while you can continue to use the secondary monitor as usual. This is how I use my HTPC. Unfortunately, PVS cannot currently be used in FS mode on the secondary monitor, using the widowed mode on the secondary monitor results in very high CPU usage, (and so when FS'ing the windowed interface on the secondary monitor, you get an error).

With your TV as your primary and your monitor as your secondary display, you'd have to use an app to move your desktop icons/taskbar/programs to the monitor. One such app is NView which comes with the NVIDIA Detonator drivers. Most apps remember their places on the secondary monitor.

V_D_O is correct. Currently Snapstream doesn't support output to a secondary monitor. Hopefully this will change in the future.

VDO, I want to have the same set up that you mentioned. My TV is hooked up to my video card via an S-Video cable and my monitor is hooked up via the monitor cable. I moved my icons to the secondary display (tv), but now how do I switch my montior to the secondary display?

I'm using an NVidia GeForce 4 card.

Thx, in advance!

What you need to do is go to display properties and there is a dialog under the resolution slider. One says "make this my primary display" Click it for the one you want to be the primary display.

Thanks Per... I downloaded and installed the new beta to TvTool (the one that supports muli-monitors, however, I'm not sure how to set it up.

I'm assuming that it's possible to get SnapStream to run in a full screen mode on the secondary display using TvTool... or does TvTool swap the two displays?

Please let me know how to set it up.

Thanks!

Sorry, but I can't help you with this one. My setup is with an old GF3 card that don't support dual monitors.

Try the TvTool forum.
