pocketpvs

Now that SS 3 has been released what are the plans for pocketpvs. Quite honestly it is a major factor in my original purchase of ss2. Will it be updated? If I record in mpeg format will it work as far as the conversion is concerned?

You can tanscode it to pocketpc format already. Just go into the web admin page then Video Recompression and recompress it. I beleive you can even set it to recomress automaticly

that is true, the transcoding will convert the file but another important feature was copying it the PocketPC and creating a local web page for the files. I heard that PocketPVS 2.0 will work with PVS 3 but I still have to find the time to test.

If your PPC is netwokred you shoudl be able to stream it right from the watch page. If not you could transfer thougha card reader or activesync

Actually there is a problem with streaming to a pocketpc right now, though someone did get it to work with Windows Medai Server, but I haven't tried.

Yeah I know, I have the ipaq 5455 and was beta testing. It broke after RC1. But I am sure they will Have it up and Running soon since it worked through the betas and the first realease candidate. But either way if it is setting up a web page to stream the file and there sreaming server is cutting out, it still wouldn't work. WHat feature are you looking for in particular. I know it seems to be malfunctioning but it seems like most of the features of pocketpvs are pretty well intagrrated into pvs3.0

I also have a 5455 on the way in the mail. Should be here Saturday if you need another tester with this model Ipaq.

Wow I didn't know there were so many 5455 owners here. That's great to see, I love my 5455 and once I'm able to stream Live TV again I'll be soo happy.

For such an expensive handheld, I'm surprised too that there are so many.

I was using a Zaurus which is linux based. Compaq just lowered the prices on some of their Ipaqs. Once I saw this and realized I could finally take advantage of SnapStream's PDA functionality, I jumped.

Where you able to stream videos to your zaurus? My friend has one and it would be cool if we could get that to work.

I don't think there are any programs to deal with streaming Windows Media for the Z...

Nope, couldn't rig anything up to work for streaming to the Zaurus. Hence me moving to an iPAQ I'm loving it so far.
