3.0 RC1 Bugs

First let me start by saying I like the general layout. The application has a very user friendly interface, very simple to understand. The setup is also very smooth as well. I like how the sign up the SnapStream.Net works and automatically retrievs the TV programing data.

I'm running a 1.6 Ghz P4, 400mhz FSB, 512mb 600mhz.
60GB 7200RPM WD HD, Ultra ATA 100.
Windows 2k

I've ran 2.0 just fine, the network stream worked excellent. 3.0 RC1 Live TV, will only run for about 1 min before it completely locks up. I have to manually kill the proccess WTLPVSApp.exe.

I have updated my Pinnacle PCTV drivers to the lates ones provided by the manufacturer. I know one may reccomend to use the btwdmdr drivers, and I did try to use them. I completely uninstalled Snapstream PVS and my PCTV wdm drivers. Installed the btwdmr drivers and reinstalled PVS. PVS setup saw the btwdmdr drivers, but could not use them. Which I found odd, cause Dscaler could.

Another thing i noticed: This application seems to be taking up a quite a bit of Memory. I didn't even have the timeshifting enabled and the application was taking 100mb of memory on "Fair" quality. Using the "Best" quality, my memory usage when up to a 160mb before PVS stoped responding.

I look forward to seeing the final release and curious to see if you guys can get the application to work with all the various TV cards out there.

I was wondering if you guys plan on supporting hardware based encoding as you would find in Win-tv's PVR-250 & 350 models. It seems this would take a lot of the load off of the main system as the card would handel the encoding as appose of system having to handle it.

Keep up the good work guys, and good luck

You may want to post this message in the Snapstream Beta>Bugs forum. Development doesn't always see the threads from this forum for Beta purposes.

To gain access to the Beta forum, please check the documentation that was presented to you when you downloaded your Snapstream copy.

Support for the pvr-250 is expected to be added after 3.0 is released. They are currently alpha testing PVS with this board with some success.

As for the crash, EaranUSA is right it is far better to post in the beta forums where the dev’s can take a look at it.
