Questions from a potential new user

I've seen some comments here about the picture quality - that it's not as good as touted by Snapstream. Does VHS quality really look as good as VHS?

I've got a PII 333 machine with 192 megs of memory. Will I be able to record in VHS quality with little or no degredation?

Last, there was a comment here recently about a Hauppauge TV card having TV-out. However, in looking over their web site, I can't find such a thing. Does it exist? In fact, is there any inexpensive TV tuner card that has TV-out?

Thanks.

you will probably not be able to record at VHS quality on your PII-333 machine. if you are able to record VHS quality, it will max out your system resources.

none of the Hauppauge cards have a television output. most ATi graphics cards have the television out (and built-in tv tuning) and then there are also video cards from other companies like nvidia (that you could use in conjunction with a Hauppauge) that have television out connections.

I am also a potential users and have a few questions to tack on.

I'm running a 1.3GHz Athlon w/384MB memory, win2K OS. I'll be using a Hauppauge WinTV card. Will SnapStream run ok under my 2K system? Any Athlon problems? What quality can I get out of it? (I didn't really see anywhere that I could gather the system requirments for various qualities, I'm guessing I'll be ok but still, better to ask...)

Also, I have 2 disks, my primary is a Quantum Fireball AS, 7200RPM. It's a nice fast disk, but I normal just use it for booting and applications to load. My main storage disk is a 5400RPM 80GB Maxtor Diamondmax. Both disks are ATA/100 but I'm concerned about the ability of the Maxtor to keep up with a high quality save, could I be running into issues there?
Thanks,
Jason

Colema19,

SnapStream PVS should run great on that system. Your hard drive should be able to keep up easily, as a lot of CPU power goes into keeping the video well compressed.
