Network Video Decoder

Sorry, it actually says "Network Video Decoder" ... where can I get this?

In one of the product illustrations here at Snapstream, there is a television room showing a TV thats streaming media from the
Snapstream server. The graphic says the TV is using a MPEG Video Decoder. Where can I buy a small affordable box to do this? ...does this box have an OS of some type so I can select media, etc. from the Snapstream server?

I have the same question. The whole thing sound really great, but if I have to sit in front of my PC to watch the shows I'm disappointed. My recliner/remote/DVD combination are way to comfortable.

I have a BookPC with TV out and a RF keyboard. I can use it to watch the shows on my TV. It works fine but I still get dropped frames from the captures.

I've thought about this, a good idea. Hopefully the XBOX will have Ethernet and a media player of some sort. Maybe PS2 as well. The SnapStream illustration is a bit deceiving if a PC of some sort is required for playback.

I agree that it is a little deceiving... I have a home network and would gladly use this product instead of a TiVo if the vaulted "Network Video Decoder" device actually existed.

Hmmm... Small case, nearly silent fan (or better yet, convection cooling) 100Mb Ethernet, video / audio out, 1GHz chip, wireless keyboard and mouse...

The system would cost $1000 US ($1500 CDN) by my estimation, and there's not a lot of room in standard PC prices for volume to bring the price down.

Still, it's buildable with off-the-shelf components.

Anyone want to order one? We could set up a bundle with SnapStream.

You could build one for about $500 from my estimates.

Wireless Keyboard/Mouse - $50
WinTV TV Card - $50
(I just bought an Emachines Cel 633, 64MB Ram, 20GB hard drive) (www.compgeeks.com) - $300
10/100 Enet Card - $20
Snapstream - $50
Video with TV Out - $30
