Capturing a DVD!

If you hook your standalone DVD player up through your VCR and the VCR out to your TV Tuner, you can capture any DVD movie. Hope this info helps those need to make some backups.

Uou can do the same thing with a DVD drive and Decoder card in your computer. Just loop the video from the decoder card to the vidio in on your vid card. I have done this several times. I am using a Creative DXR3 card and ATI AIW Pro 128 vid card.

You guys must have old VCR's or cheap DVD movies. Most DVD movies have macrovision and when you loop the signal to the vcr and then to the tv, macrovision is enabled on the VCR. This makes the recording messed up. I have a video copy master to remove the macrovison signal before it enters the vcr. I didn't have a tv with rca jacks so I opted for the box. It works great. Older vcrs don't support macrovision. and cheap dvd's don't have the movie encoded (I think I have some jackie chan movies that don't

Snapstream only records what is coming through the tuner. For example, my DVD is playing through channel 3 on my VCR and I set Snapstream to record channel 3. It just copies whatever stream is coming into the Tuner card. Macrovision is not an issue at all. My VCR is new and the movies I have tried have Macrovision.

Opps. I didn't read it carefully. I thought you guys were talking about direct connecting a DVD to the VCR to the TV. I didn't read the computer part in it at all. My bad.
