VCD creation
has anyone experimented with VCD creation from PVS recorded content -- ie has anyone taken the steps to transcode their PVS recorded shows to MPEG-1 and then burned the VCD and attempted playback on a standard VCD player.

results, successes, failures?

I am currently testing transcoding to VCD format. So far, no success (the process is too slow to be practical thus far). I'll keep this thread updated with my progress.

Update:
The encoding rate is 1.2meg/minute at 800mhz (Athlon).

What products are you uing to produce your VCD's ?

It turns out that Microsoft has a patent** on the ASF format (see below) so I've decided to abandon my re-encoding project.

It seems clear that a codec plug-in system is needed to get LEGAL mpeg (or other format) files. This will also probably entail some other fundamental changes in SnapStream.

Any thoughts on how one could use a different encoder with snapstream??
