How beyond tv work?
Dear
I have a school client want to set a live time video broadcast system, full existing 10/100 network, i search from Url that your company have this solution now, camera full S-video to tv tuner, tv tuner use software compress to Beyond TV, via network distribute to 51 class room, live time to see the video broadcast Now , i have some question as below: 1. I search from another website , tv tuner using software compress, it can guarantee the analog signal transform to WMV, Live time distribute to 51 class room, is it? if yes, i just looking for this solution (Check from another wedsite: if tv tuner using hardware compress, the analog signal will transform to Mpeg2, it can't be live time broadcast, need add beyond tv live for each client, is it?) 2. if item 1(in bold) is true, whether 1 set beyond tv can support 51 user? or support unlimit user base on the server and network? 3. How to purchase the software? whether full bank to tt the money, you will send back the key, the media download from your website? 4. How many bandwidth when using 640x480 24fps? that mean if 51 client access in same time, how many uplink between Server to Core switch? 5. pls advice what thing i must attention but haven't list in above Thank! |

Re: How beyond tv work?
I believe this forum is more for the 'Home' version of BeyondTV. You may be interested in the 'Enterprise' version of BeyondTV.

Re: How beyond tv work?
i think the enterprise version is appliance only, the engine is beyond tv also , may be this beyond tv do something optimization with the appliance, or let user add on software and hardware module...etc.
but my client no special need, live time broadcast to 51 class is ok so i think , if my workstation hardware is ok , it can do same thing with enterprise version Last edited by bittlejean; 09-22-2009 at 11:59 PM. |

Re: How beyond tv work?
As far as I know, BTV Home does not support a 'broadcast' mode.
With the Home version, you can setup clients to playback files on demand - but there is no ability to set the file to loop continuously. I do not know all of the capabilities that the Enterprise version has, but I am fairly certain the Home version does not have the features you want.

Re: How beyond tv work?
google 'multicast'. You require server software that supports the use of it. Otherwise you are not going to be able to deliver 50+ concurrent video connections.

Re: How beyond tv work?
I agree, BTV is completely wrong for this. BTV is for recording video, not webcasting.
What you need is something like Windows Media Encoder or Shoutcast, which can sends video out to remote systems. I believe Windows Media Encoder can be used in Multicast mode; this should allow you to only use one stream to feed all 51 client systems. If that doesn't work, you just have to do some simple math to figure out how many clients you can support: example, if you're using a 768Kb (that's Kilobits. KiloBytes is KB) stream on a 100Mb network, you can theoretically support 100/.768 streams, or 130 streams. In reality, cut that number in half... but that's still something like 60 simultaneous streams. I would try setting up Windows Media Encoder on a machine and connecting to a media stream with 51 clients to see what your real-world performance is going to look like. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...r/default.mspx
