Beyond TV question

I have beyond TV. When I record shows and compress videos, can I have applications like firefox and others running in the tool bar.

Yes, you can have other programs running.

Just keep in mind that, depending on your hardware and what recording / showsqueezing settings you are using, other applications may run a bit slow due to the load on the CPU.
