Post **Live TV ideas**

I need a way to stream live tv. I was very interested in SNAPSTREAM, but you have to be recording a station to be able to see the live tv. I'm currently just streaming with windows media encoder, but there is no way to change the channel. I have been connection to my home machine remotely, stopping the stream, opening wintv to change the channel, closing it down, and then restarting the stream. Does anything exist to allow you to remotely change the channel on the remote machine? If the new version were released, with live TV capabilities I would buy it in a second!! Any info would be greatly appreciated..

I wrote a little app to change the channel on the remote machine with snapstream and a DirecTV dish with the Serial Control cable connected. It has a problem in it that I used a port that snapstream already uses. You have to close snapstream load up my app then change the port and save it. Then load snapstream. I will upload a new version that uses an unoccupied port but I didn't see too many people using it (since I never got an email telling me that it was broke) so I didn't fix it. Check out my SIG for the address to get it. I called it the SSRT - Snapstream Remote Tuner. I was going to add support for the IRBlaster but again I saw no one using it.

IR Blaster support sounds good, PBMax!

Originally, Quartz was supposed to support channel changing remotely - which I was looking forward to.

But as the date got closer, it got dropped. Who knows, maybe it's back on the agenda (I've been out of the loop).

But I doubt it...

I'm expecting Quartz to be all about SnapStream.net - which will do bugger all for me!

I don't think Quartz was suppose to support that. I thought originally Quartz was going to Live Stream TV. But it's just a Live TV Viewing app that snapstream is creating. So you don't ever have to use the app that came with your TV Card again. Just use snapstream. I would love Live Streaming TV. But I don't think that is in the works for Quartz at least.
