Supreme court allows Cablevision network DVR

So, expect more cable companies to offer network pvr services, although I fail to see where they get the bandwidth.

Presuming the Network DVR is successful, it seems likely they will eventually take steps to protect ads. This should also preserve a niche for the homebrew DVR, presuming the DIY hardware remains available & flexible.
