Post Open fullscreen for better TV viewing

I wrote a simple HTML page that opens Snapstream full screen. I've found that on low resolution TV displays this is much better. I like it so much I figured its worth sharing.

You can download it here. Simply extract the HTML file anywhere and double click it, or browse to it in your browser.

It assumes you are accessing the PVS at "http://localhost:8129", but you can easily change this by opening the HTML file and editing it.

With IE, you can get a near-identical screen (you get icons along the top) by pressing F11, which puts it into kiosk mode.

You are both correct. However, there are several reasons I prefer the posted web page.

1) When in kiosk mode, placing the cursor at the bottom causes the taskbar to show up over IE. I always put the mouse in the lower corner when I send my card to TV-Out. The page I provided locks this out.

2) With one click of my remote, TVTool (3rd party software) swaps to TV-Out and pops open this fullscreen page. I have my remote set up to control SnapStream without a mouse. It works very well. I don't ever have to touch my keyboard or mouse when I'm using my PVS.

But, to each his own. Throwing the code out can't hurt.

actually, you guys have the terminology backwards. going fullscreen in ie with f11 is not called kiosk mode, it's just called fullscreen. kiosk mode is when the taskbar and ie navigation is completely locked out (like Dan's html) so the user must rely on the interface of the html to navigate. that's why it's called "kiosk" mode, because it's safer in the public setting a kiosk would usually occupy. i used to write kiosk interfaces a few years back for just this purpose.

I seem to recall that it's the Microsoft site that calls it that, but I wouldn't be surprised if I'm mistaken.

Did you happen to work for Dynatouch?
