Fix forum search

Using two word searches brings back a blank page ( 2 or more words). When will the search engine get fixed?

Re: Fix forum search

It is the advanced search page that seems to be broken. The Search box at the top of forum that lets you input right there seems to work OK..... took me a while to find that much.

Maybe it is inconsistently broken. I am glad that others see it too, so maybe some admin will take note and fix it.

Not for me, that is where I started and it just goes to a blank page.

Re: Fix forum search

I tried to start a new thread today on a different topic and after filling out the box and hitting submit it loaded a white page and never posted my thread.... these quick replies seem to work.

Just some weird stuff going on.

I opened a new thread yesterday, and it took me 5 times before the thread was accepted. All the other times I was getting a white page. I was using Chrome, and I thought maybe that was the problem, but now I'm not so sure.

Re: Fix forum search

I am using Firefox 3.07 on XP, so Chrome is not the problem.

Re: Fix forum search

For me it is anything with 3 or more words in it. Whether searching for 3 words or submitting a thread with 3 or more words in the title I get the blank page. 2 words seems to work fine...

I use Firefox v3.0.7 but I have also tried it with IE v7 with the same results...

It did that to me a couple of days ago on this post. It wasn't so much as number of words, as to what those words were!

Re: Fix forum search

I've had both problems.

Tried to make a new post about 5 times in a row with both Firefox 3.06 and IE 7 and neither would go through. Still haven't posted the question...

And the two word search fails for me, too, again with both browsers.

Frustrating...

Re: Fix forum search

To expand upon what myktek has stated here.

We as of a year or so ago switched to a new server with our host and things worked fine until as of late. When digging into the issue we found a configuration problem with php limiting the amount of memory it could use. This was not an issue on the previous server because we had expanded it but the new servers' default settings put us back into potential trouble later on.

We fixed this setting and it seems stuff works again, please add any bugs or problems you're having to this thread and we'll investigate them accordingly.
