Firefly remote in the Netherlands

Hi there,

I've been looking for a remote control for my WinXP desktop with Foobar and MPC and the only properly customizable solution I can find is the Firefly. The profiles, customization options and the RF receiver all look really promising and I'd gladly pay 50 euro to get it. However, the 50 dollar shipping fee to the Netherlands seems a bit over the top. I've tracked down what I believe is supposed to be the Dutch reseller of this remote (ePlaza b.v.?), however they're not responding to my emails and their site offers no way of buying the remote.

Can someone offer me some help as to where to get this thing for a reasonable price in the Netherlands?

Thanks in advance,
Meph0

PS, will you offer drivers for Windows 7 when the time comes?

Re: Firefly remote in the Netherlands

The Firefly is basically the same thing as the X10 remote. I think ATI also has a remote based on the X10.

Failing that, any Media Center remote will do just as good a job as the FireFly. I've also had great results with the Gyration remote.

The key is to get a third party utility like Girder or EventGhost to do what you need. Both of those can replace the default FireFly program, and they are both MUCH more customizable (for any remote) than the X10 program that comes with the FireFly.

In fact, based on my experiences with the FireFly, I can't recommend it to anybody as a media remote. The Gyration and Logitech DiNovo mini are much more useful, IMO.

Girder is too much trouble for me, I'm sure it's great when it comes to customization, but I want something that works out of the box and can THEN be customized. Also, those two remotes you suggested are way more expensive than the Firefly + S&H and the only reason I haven't bought a Firefly is because of that S&H.

So I was wondering if anyone could point me to a Dutch (or European) distribution point for the Firefly?
