Angry Channel assignment changed in San Diego

On February 17 two channels in San Diego (Ch 10 and Ch 8) changed their assigned frequencies (KGTV CH 10 was assigned physical CH 25 and is now physical 10, KFMB CH 8 was assigned phisical 7 and is now physical 8). Since snapstream.net downloads the assignment every time it updates the program guide (with the old/wrong assignment) I can no longer use the program guide.
When will the snapstream people update the channel assignments????

Re: Channel assignment changed in San Diego

Hi Fredyg, we're getting a lot of line-up discrepancy reports right now. We had 4x the average last week over the norm.

The company we get our guide data from (the same company that supplies TIVO and MCE and most other DVR products with guide data) is dealing with the changes that have come with the digital switchover. I don't know when they expect to have everything cleaned up, but we've been passing along all the discrepancy reports and sometimes this can speed up their addressing problems.

If you want to submit your program guide discrepancy, visit this page:
http://www.snapstream.com/support/Support.aspx

Choose "Technical support" and then "Beyond TV" and then "Program guide discrepancy to report" and then complete the form.

Re: Channel assignment changed in San Diego

rakeshagrawal, is it possible to either manually edit a lineup to reflect the changed channel numbers or to create a new manual lineup that can still get guide listings?

Re: Channel assignment changed in San Diego

Technically, you can custom map channels in a line-up but you essentially make a copy of the line-up at that point in time and lose line-up change detection in the future.

To custom map a SnapStream.Net channel line-up, visit this page on SnapStream.Net and create a new line-up with your custom channel numbers:
http://www.snapstream.net/configure/...eupWizard.aspx

Then run the Beyond TV setup wizard and choose the new lineup you created.

We're trying harder this week to let Tribune (our TV listings provider) know of all the line-ups that are messed up and that they need to fix this stuff ASAP.

Thanks.

I realize that the lineup will be frozen, but it's better to have a working frozen lineup than a lineup that doesn't work. There are a few people asking this same question, I'll direct them to this thread.

Re: Channel assignment changed in San Diego

The other thing that I think we're going to start recommending people do here is submit their line-up problems directly to Tribune/Zap2it (they are the same company), the folks we get our data from that are the source of the problem here.

Instructions are on this page:
http://www.zap2it.com/services/site/...,6935396.story

Basically send an e-mail to feedback@zap2it.com with this information:

Quote:
Please fill-in the "Subject:" line as "Lineup Discrepancy," and include the following information (or your request will not be processed):
  • Cable System Name (please copy exactly from our list of providers)
  • Specific Description of Problem (channels missing or incorrect, program data incorrect, date/time of specific occurrence, etc.)
  • Provider Phone Number
  • Provider Service (cable, satellite)
  • Apartment or Hotel Complex Name (if applicable)
  • City
  • State or Province (and country if outside of the United States)
  • Zip or Postal Code

If I create a custom, frozen lineup, can I change back when the normal lineup is fixed?

Right now, I cannot record any CBS shows and it's pretty frustrating.

Re: Channel assignment changed in San Diego

What has changed on mine is the actual broadcast frequency so that BTV is looking on the wrong frequency to tune the channels in. Is there a manual fix for that. I have gone to the SNAPSTREAM.NET to set custom channels but I get an error message and no results in BTV.

Yes, you can change back when it's fixed. You can check to see if it's fixed by using our lineup wizard:
http://www.snapstream.com/Products/b...eupwizard.aspx

And to switch back, just re-run your setup wizard and create a new line-up from scratch from within the setup wizard.

every time I try this I get 'Error: You have exceeded the maximum number of lineups'. WTF do I have to do to watch TV now that you have screwed up my local channels.

Check your account in snapstream.net or under the webadmin settings section for channels. AFAIK, you can have a maximum of 4 lineups.

Talking Re: Channel assignment changed in San Diego

This morning, Feb 25, the channel assignment is fixed. All channels are assigned correctly and the snapstream channel linup for 92111 is correct.
Thank you
