Unhappy DVD Burning Issues

When burning to a DVD after choosing a show to burn, I get asked to put the blank DVD in the drive. After inserting the DVD and clicking ok, I get the same message again, and the light on the drive never lights at all. Is there a setting somewhere to tell BTV which drive is the burner? I have a DVD burner and CD drive, none of which light after clcking okay as desecribed above.

I've used ImgBurn and Nero in the past and have been able to burn successfully.

What's up??

Re: DVD Burning Issues

Are they IDE or SATA? I believe BeyondTV will only use the master drive if it's IDE.

Re: DVD Burning Issues

They're IDE. I'll check and see which one's set as the master. Thanks for the tip.

Re: DVD Burning Issues

ok so for the past 2days i been burning all my video files to dvds to make space on my hd. i been using the same DVD+R brand speed etc. well i finished the old pack that was open today and i opened a brand new pack keep in mind that it is still the same kind and brand. but now when i try to burn files to it, an error message comes up saying that the dvd is not compatible wit my burner, how is that even possible if i'm using the same kind and brand of dvd that was working fine before?

Re: DVD Burning Issues

Could be a different manufacturing process. You can use Nero's Info tool to determine if the old DVDs are in fact the same as the new set of DVDs.

Re: DVD Burning Issues

Yeah Nick is right. A specific brand can sometimes be originally made from more than one source. Here's a utility that I've been using that will give you a lot of details. Use it to check your current batch of discs and then check one of the old ones to see if there are any differences.

DVD Identifier - Your DVD, HD DVD & Blu-ray Companion
