Which frontend are you using?

I am wondering by now what is the distribution of the frontend used by BTV users? It seems that MediaPortal is a popular option...

Edit: Oops, forgot Media Center in there...

Re: Which frontend are you using?

Are you lumping Beyond Media Basic in with Beyond Media? I'm running BMB but am looking to change.

Re: Which frontend are you using?

Why do we need a "front end"? When I want music, I pop up iTunes. When I want TV, I pop up BTV, and when I want a DVD, I fire up PowerDVD. It works for me.

Re: Which frontend are you using?

I am in the midst of configuring Vista Media Center and have seen some of the things meedio can do but that one seems a bit complicated. I never bought BM but have used BMB and sorry to say it seems to be lacking quite a bit compared to the others here. anyone have a real preference to products other BM and WMC? I am working on upgrading my system at the moment and would appreciate any help....

Re: Which frontend are you using?

Why do I want a front end ??? Well because my main TV is my BTV, I dont have or want to use a keyboard, so is easier for me to have everything in one single program (well in this case 2 programs) Instead of opening diff prog for diff purpose

Re: Which frontend are you using?

Actually WHile I have Media Portal I don't use it nearly as often as I used to. All video playback I use BTV. I rarely play DVD's (rip them to Mpegs and then BTV) and music I've been using my media remote control from my PDA (was using Vinyl, then MPblue, now back to Media Control, seems to work the best). Only thing is no visualizations, if I want those its Media Portal, also picture slideshows and weather, but that's about it. If it were integrated into BTV I'd use more features, otherwise I prefer not to have both programs loaded all the time.

I launch the programs separately with my remote control, so they run pretty independent of each other. THis week I'll be playing with MP's TV server since I'm helping a friend build an HTPC and he wants to try that before going Sage, BTV'snot an option for him since it doesn't have a front end.

Re: Which frontend are you using?

BTV all the way... I didn't build an HTPC, I built a PVR.
