I realize the software was written using dot net, which is MS-proprietary. But many of us are refusing to go to Vista, both because of its performance and cost.
Are there any plans for a version of Beyond TV or Link that will run on something other than a Microsoft operating system? Thanks. |

Re : Non-microsoft Operating Systems
Well, XP is fine...
But I wouldn't expect any access, besides through the web admin, on non-windows machine...

Re: Non-microsoft Operating Systems
There are a few people trying to get it working in UBUNTU using WINE.

Re: Non-microsoft Operating Systems
I've always preferred UNIX-flavored OSes, and the roll-out of Vista -with its hardware-obsoleting requirements - convinced me to migrate to Linux at home. I don't expect SS to port BTV to Linux, etc. anytime soon, so getting it working under WINE seems the most likely solution. In that case, it would probably run on Mac OS, Solaris, etc. in addition to Linux.
I'm one of those with an active interest in getting Link (at least) working under Ubuntu, and to that end am pressing on the WINE folks. There have been some promising developments recently, so I hope it's just a matter of time before it's functional. |
