Poll - What OS are you using?

Just curious what the spread of operating systems is these days. I separated XP sp2 and 3 because of some of the problems I was seeing in the forums. I lumped Server and 2000 etc together since I assume they would be a small percentage, feel free to post how those are working for you and what BTV version your on. You can post multiple systems for link boxes if their different, but mainly looking at servers

Re: Poll - What OS are you using?

XP Home SP3, kept up to date with all MS patches. Successfully running BTV 4.9.0.

Have one open ticket regarding performance degrade over time (leads to horrible response delay for FF remote / GUI commands). Working with SS to generate appropriate debug logs for deeper investigation. Specific degrade appeared in 4.8.2, continues in 4.9.0, and becomes noticeable about 7 days of continuous operation following a reboot. Task manager points to increasing CPU usage consumption by svchost.exe, owned by Network Service.

Also watching BTVNetworkService.exe closely for a potential memory leak. Have observed it exceeding 94M, prior to last reboot.

Re: Poll - What OS are you using?

I've been suspecting something like that as well, since I've stabilized my system I don't routinely reboot. I think the longer it is on the more issues I see, including OTA recordings.

Actually, part of the problem is I used to get a windows error periodically that rebooted my computer, about once every week or so. Since my xp reinstall, have not had one, so my system stays on until I reboot it.

Re: Poll - What OS are you using?

I'm running a dedicated HTPC with XP Pro SP2, and minimal updates.

Re: Poll - What OS are you using?

I've got a bit of all. My main BTV box runs XPSP3, my links for the most part at XPSP2, and I have a Vista Ultimate box that I use occasionally for link.

Re: Poll - What OS are you using?

Vista 32, but I want to run Vista 64. Since SP1 Vista has been rock solid.

Re: Poll - What OS are you using?

A fully updated Vista 32 has been solid for me except the other day I got an error message indicating tha my WinTV -HVR-950Q was lost and I should run the Wizard again.

I couldn't tell from my log data if this was a BTV, Vista or WinTV problem.

Re: Poll - What OS are you using?

The only OS I've seen that has any issues with BTV or Link has been Vista x64. I've run Link on just about every Windows OS since 2000 on up to Windows 7. Windows 7 blows Vista away in performance.

Think of it this way... you have a certain "feel" about XP when you're using it. Then you get to Vista, and it "feels" different, sometimes more sluggish, etc... Then fire up Windows 7, and to me it "feels" like XP but looks like Vista. It definitely is much more refined than Vista is on resources and just the general performance of it.

I'm doing everything I can to skip Vista on my main boxes, and I'll move to Windows 7 when it comes out. Vista to me is the "Windows ME v.2" of the 2000's.
