Well, I just got my 880 today, and can't get it to work with SnapStream. It works just fine with the Hauppauge software (WinTV2000). I'm trying to get it to work with the Beta 3.0 SS with no luck.
When I run the Setup Wizard: a) It gives an error when trying to connect to Snapstream.net b) When it scans the channels, NONE are found. I attempted to manually set up the software through the Configure/Recording Settings page, with no luck. I've tried multiple configurations and nothing works. In the Settings page, I had to manually create a new "Channel Lineup" and added channels 1 - 125. In the Tuning Settings page, under Video Input, the only option is "No Video Inputs or Device is in Use". I've tried disabling the "Preview Pin" (whatever that is). I tried all the "Capture Interface" settings, and currently have it on "DirectShow". In the "Tuning Interface" setting, I tried both DirectShow and "Hauppauge WinTV PCI series". I found that, in the "Personal Video Station" window (the log window), I can change the channel and receive between channels 2 and 13 IF I toggle between the "Log" window and the "Theater" window when changing channels. Anything over 13 is snow. I downloaded and installed the latest drivers from Hauppauge. Suggestions anyone? Thanks, Dave |

And a little more info:
I was reading about how to tell the difference between the WDM boards and the VFW ones, and downloaded both vidcap32.exe and amcap.exe. amcap runs fine, and if I use the WinTV app to change channels, amcap will even display high-numbered channels. vidcap, on startup, reports "Capture device was not detected". But if I hit "Continue", under Options it shows it defaulted to "Microsoft WDM Image Capture Version 5.02". I can then change it to the "Hauppauge Win/TV Video Capture" driver, and it will capture a single frame and display it. The audio plays, but the video is frozen. So I guess this means I have a WDM device? I went to the Hauppauge link for the newest WDM drivers, but it says the driver is not for the WinTV PVR (which is what the 880 is). Heeeellllppp!!! Dave |

Well, I figured what the heck, and tried the Hauppauge WDM drivers anyway. They worked! I can now record video.
HOWEVER, now I have no sound. Hmmm... I also notice that now under the "Edit Audio and Video Settings" page, the "Capture Settings" section of the grid is empty. There are no settings there. I'm not sure when it disappeared, but I know it was gone before I installed the new drivers. Anyone know how to get that back? |

Egads.
I uninstalled and re-installed the PVS software, and the "Capture Settings" is still missing. I KNOW it used to be there. That's where the audio settings were. I get audio when playing live video in the "Theater" screen of the log window, but recordings are muted. I hope my babbling to myself is as amusing to all of you as it is to me.
