Exclamation multiple tuner cards

is snap stream 3.0 going to support multiple tuner cards? recording tv on a pc is great....... but how many of us have had to choose between 2 must have shows that are on at the same time you have had to be at work? i hate having to break out the vcr every time this happens..... and I’m not about to sink $400 to build a second computer(for that i could by a rePlay[box like tivo...better concepts])

aslo... i hear that snap stream is going to be able to stream live tv over the internet.... if i want to cable on my laptop with my wireless broadband connection while my computer is recording.... i am going to be SOL if snapstream doesn’t support multiple tuners.

support for 2.. or even three(pleeeze make it 3!!!!!!!!) tuners would let me:

record 2 shows at the same time

record the same show with 2 different quality settings(hi quality for watching on my 27 in tv, and streamable so i can watch it on the go)

watch one show while i record another

Picture In Picture

host different channels of live tv to more then one location at a time(great for multi-person house holds)

watch or record tv locally and stream it to a remote location

a third tv tuner would give more flexibility to mix and match those options......

i know that messing with 2 or 3 encoding processes would take an incredibly beefy machine.... but lets not forget moore's law.... in 18 months or so... we are going to have like a 6ghz Pentium.....and a super fast athlon 64... and by that time some one should have a usb 2.0 or firewire(usb 1.1 tuners suck) tv tuner on the market....so they dont all have to be internal tuners.....

any who... i hope a snapstream developer reads this and takes it seriously (ati and its multi media center already).... i know if this program is done correctly(and stablely) snapstream has the potential to revolutionize the internet more then napster did.

I second this idea!

Good question, in addition to wanting to watch and record different shows, my cable system has two feeds, A and B. Right now I have to use an A/B switch as well as have two channel suites to handle shows that are on one or the other feed. Hey SnapStream, will you be able to handle multilpe tuners? Or will you drive IR ports to allow remote A/B switches to be driven like a DSS box? I would of course rather have multiple tuner support. Happy New Year! Oh yeah, when is 3.0 coming?

Multiple tuner support would be nice --- I'm pretty sure the develoeprs are aware of this. Of course, there are probably a lot of other considerations that need to be made / weighed before deciding on something like this. Right now this is only a feature in a few tuner cards -- but I'm sure it will get more attention later. Definately not for the upcoming 3.0 release, but perhaps down the line.

-- As far as 'when is 3.0 coming?' -- I keep hearing the same things you guys do -- unfortunately I don't have control over it -- soon is all I can really say -- There are some last minute features the devs are trying to get in as well as making sure things are done right....

Is running multiple instances of SS on the same box in master/slave mode possible? Is there anyone out there with 2 tuner who'd be willing to try this?

PVS knows if there is a copy of itself already running -- you can't open up another instance.
