TV Tuner cards can not decode scrambled channels. The tuner will only be able to see the same channels a tv does that is directly connected to the cable. The unscrambled channels are usually the 13 basic cable channels. To be able to record scrambles channels you will need to use a cable box. The cable box can be hooked to the tuner card with svideo, composite video or coax cable. Then you would use a IR Blaster http://www.snapstream.com/products/i...er/actisys.htm
The IR Blaster plugs into a serial port. Then you install the IR tuner software . You run IR Setup this software learns the codes from the Cable box remote. You place the IR Blaster in front of the cable box. When Snapstream sets the channel for a recording the IR Blaster changes the cable box channel like a remote would. Now there are more things need to do setup but like that but you will just need to read a couple of other posts in the database. It is all explained numerous times because people just ask question instead of checking to see if it has been answered before. |
