Entering a bogus CC # for Quartz? Why?

Well I just purchased version 2 and I thought I would look into trying V.3 (Quartz). However, when I got the email saying i should enter in a bogus Credit Card number to download the beta I had to step back and say why in the hell would Snapstream send me something like that? Seems pretty stupid to me. In a time when your behaviour on the Net is considered to be just like everyday life why would they ask you to enter in a credit card number that isn't yours. I just can't figure that one out.

because the beta is free right now. the store is just a test version so none of it is for real. go ahead, it won't bite.

This is only for testing the online store -- these credit card numbers were assigned to us by 'verisign' strictly for the purposes of this test. They are NOT anyone's CC#
