pc output to tv / MS media center

I am interested in this product, but am concerned with the recorded output to my tv. I have tried svideo output from computers to tv in the past and the quality is horrible. Is there some new technology or product out there which will allow me to have the same quality as my cable tv, dvd, or vcr or do I have to watch recordings on my computer monitor.

What is the relationship if any between snapstream and MS media center.

Thanx

Mark

If you have a HDTV with monitor inputs it should look great, or so I heard. I have mine connected to a normal 29" TV with an S-video cable. With 120dpi and large icons @ 800x600, text is barely readable.
But recordings look great on the TV-however, the WMP7 codecs are made for streaming and not great-quality recording, so unless you have a very powerful machine it'll be sub-VHS quality.

Media Centre is an OS with (among others) TV recording built into it, but is only available to OEMs. SnapStream is a program that essentially does the same, and a little more.
