Will version 3 support hauppage PVR 250/350? If not is it planned for v3.x?

won't work for 3, i'd probably say more for 3.5 or 4... it would be a large leap to move to hardware encoding in general which is obviously doable, but it's a large undertaking. that said, i've got the 250 working with MCE.. really amazing stuff.

That is too bad, just picked up this card really cheaply ($89 after rebate) and was hoping to use it on SnapStream, oh well Have to tear that old junky tv card one out of the kids computer and give the demo a try, but can say I like doing that. Snapstream should know that most people that buy there product are hobbyist or people more tech savy (generally I said) and they/I would rather spend on a better quality (not $400) hardware product, aka PVR-250/350 and get the added benefit of less cpu cycles and instant quality. It can't be that hard (if Microsoft can do it )

Hopefully SnapStream can get this side of SnapStream to work (I have seen APIs available), because more and more cards will be using the hardware encoding especially as prices drop and more people go the PVR route. If not SnapStream then somebody else will be creating a product.

Just a note: Microsoft MCE works fine with the PVR-250. Haven't tried Showshifter or Myth.

how hard was it to get the MCE working? I've been seriously considering buying a PVR250 and getting MCE.

Especially considering I record and watch on the same machine, and never use the remote recording or streaming.. Seems like MCE would fit how I use my PVR.

PM me if you don't wanna discuss in this forum.

it was effortless to get mce going with the pvr-250. check out www.shspvr.com for the special drivers you'll need, and the instructions.

Festivalman is probably right with the '3.5 or 4.0' remark. There has been some mpeg2 work going on here with PVS 3.0 -- hopefully this will make the process of working with the mpeg2 hardware streams somewhat simpler. At this time, everything is still done through software -- but eventually these cards should be supported. It's unfortunate it's not already there -- but I'll try and continue pushing for it along with you guys.
