Questions Regarding Snapstream 3.0.
1. WHEN WILL IT BE RELEASED? Or, when will a demo be available? 2. Using the TV interface on 3.0, can I play divx files using a remote wonder controller? 3. Does 3.0 allow for recording in multiple video platforms, like divx, avi, mpeg, and so on? From previous versions, I have only seen the propietary WMV format as the sole video format. 4. I live in Canada. Will there be problems? Ie. EPG, built in content. 5. I have seen other competing software products that combine divx viewing, dvd viewing, jukebox features, and photo album features. Will Snapstream 3.0 or future versions have these features? 6. I have an AIW 7500, will the remote control work seamlessly with the upcoming release? 7. Will the video playback work within Snapstream 3.0 gui interface, or will it play using the Windows Media player like in previous versions of Snapstream. I have been following the progress of Snapstream and other competitors for well over 6 months now. There is another software finally out there that can allow me to do the things I want on my television, however I am willing to wait another week or 2, for the arrival of snapstream 3.0. I apologize if some of my questions have been already asked by others, and if my questions seem un-informed. Thanks, baKtraK |

1 - Should be this month -- I'm not the answer man for that.
2 - I think the StreamZap is being coded for direct use with SnapStream -- however, there is a third party program known as girder32 (www.girder.nl) that will allow you to use a wide array of remotes. The Full Screen UI has been setup to cooperate well with girder should you wish to use it. 3 - MPEG2 & WMV should be in the release for sure -- were working with DIVX right now to correct some beta issues and hope to have it complete before the release. 4 - Right now there isn't any support from ss.net for countries outside of the u.s. -- very expensive -- If you have 5 million friends that live out of US, tell them about snapstream -- I'm sure this will have an impact on the timeframe for this There are other EPGs that work with SnapStream, but I don't think any of them are in Canada. (I have heard there is a user plugin though which will work with a Canadian EPG) 5 - Right now the beta can play mp3 files, and some others (not sure what) -- don't know if more will be included -- I know this stuff is being pushed though, considering the move towards a full media pc solution. 6 - If it works with girder32 7 - There is a full screen GUI interface as well as a windowed interface. You don't have to explicitly use Media Player for playback, except through the HTML interface (for streaming etc..) |
