Wanted: Snapstream.NET and 3.0 info!

I have some questions about the upcoming release of 3.0 and snapstream.net. If an admin could answer them, I'd really appreciate it.

1) Will .net be the ONLY way to get an integrated program guide a la Tivo?

2) If the answer to 1 is yes, what is the ballpark estimate of what .net will cost? I *really* hope you're planning on being competitive with this, as one is already paying for Snapstream PVR.

3) Is there ANY way to get the Quartz/.net beta without buying 2.0? I'd like to know what I'm getting into, and I've been very patient for 3.0 but I need to make a decision soon (I am building a PVR computer for someone as a christmas gift and need to nail down the software decision NOW). I am an experienced tester and know how to do proper bug reports, etc.

4) Since 3.0 is slated for "Early December", how early are we talking about? Any specific date?

I hope I don't sound too demanding with these questions Just running out of time, as I said... I *really* hate the fact that no software currently includes an integrated program guide, and if I can't come up with one that does for a reasonable price I'm going to have to chuck the whole idea and buy a DirecTivo.

NOT SURE ON PRICING. I'VE NEVER SEEN IT OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED.

NO. ONLY REGISTERED USERS CURRENTLY GET THE BETAS OF 3.0. PERSONALLY, I THINK THERE IS A 0.0% CHANCE THAT 3.0 WILL BE OUT BEFORE CHRISTMAS IN ANYTHING OTHER THAN MAYBE A 'PUBLIC BETA' FORM.

AGAIN, IT WAS SAID (SORT OF) THAT IT WOULD BE RELEASED IN DECEMBER. THEY DID NOT SAY IN *WHAT FORM*. I WOULD EXPECT A PUBLIC BETA TO COME OUT IN DECEMBER, BUT NOT THE FINAL PRODUCT. JUST MY OPINION/HUNCH THOUGH.

IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A PVR THAT IS HASSLE FREE - GO WITH THE DIRECTIVO. SNAPSTREAM (OR *ANY* OF THE OTHER COMPUTER BASED PVR'S) ARE CONTINUAL WORK. THEY ARE *NOT* 'SET IT AND FORGET IT' AT THIS POINT. THE EXCEPTION WITH THIS MAY BE THE MICROSOFT WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER MACHINES, BUT THEY ARE EXPENSIVE.

You got an answer, from Jason. The fact that he doesn't work for SS doesn't mean that his answer is wrong. If Jason's giving out wrong info, one of the admins would probably say something. Personally, I'd prefer that they spend their time working than wasting time answering questions that have already been answered. If you have an urgent need for an answer to one of your questions (such as the "when is early December" question), you probably should send them an email.

Yes, Jason did provide a reply...

Before you get after me, please consider the possibility that I bumped because I felt it was possible that new information had surfaced.

Also, I did take the time to read through all the other forum messages I could find on the subject before bumping, and STILL can't find DEFINITIVE information on whether or not an integrated program guide can be had without purchasing a .net subscription.

Read this thread. I think it answers that question.

Oops I just realized your not a 3.0 beta tester so you can't read it.

Here are some quotes.

Here was my question.

Also a point I'm not to clear on. When the final version is released will titan TV be taken out for SS net services. Will you have to pay the monthly fee for the guide service, or can you continue with the free Titan TV. Also will you be offering a free month perhaps, so we can evaluate if it’s worth it?
Here was Amit's answer

2) Titan TV will still be supported.

3) There will be a one month evaluation for new SS users and we'll be giving existing snapstream personal video station users some number of months for free.
