Dual-Core: one post process job?

So far I am very happy with BTV 4.6.1. But, I would like a switch(command line option) or configuration option that would allow me to disable the default behavior of multi-threading or firing off two post processing jobs upon detection of a dual core processor. Perhaps it can be a property of custompostprocessing.xml or some other configuration file. I am currently using polling routines to throttle post processing jobs but I think that this is wasteful, inelegant and introduces race conditions, given the primitive nature of DOS. Hopefully, as time permits and I get my windows coding 'chops' developed (unix background), I can resolve this issue on my own (using the SDK or windows power shell). For now, I would appreciate an option for a single threaded batch processor in BTV. Choice is good; LCD (lowest common denominator) is not good . So far, you guys (and gals) have provided a nice blend. Keep up the good work. If I missed a knowledge base entry on doing this, please point me to it.

Re: Dual-Core: one post process job?

Honestly I agree with this. I want only one of my CPUs to do post-processing jobs as well. It makes it very difficult to watch HD shows on other machines and this machine at the same time when i am working with perhaps 10% of a single CPU. Is this something that can be adjusted?

I have the hour constraints on, but when you have an infant, you get woken up at all hours and TV is nice to have when you are sitting on the couch with a bottle at 3am.

Re: Dual-Core: one post process job?

In addition to a user-definable limit to the number of concurrent post-processing jobs, it would be _really_ slick to have the option to suspend jobs whenever a link was connected. I put more detailed suggestions in this post. I suppose we should probably submit these as feature requests to have any chance of getting them implemented, eh?

This was another clincher in selling my wife on BTV: she wanted to watch something 'interesting' while sitting on the couch for those round-the-clock newborn/infant feedings, umpteen times a day. Now that our fourth (!) is on the way, BTV is a fixture in the newborn-care routine at my house.
