Motherboard

Can anyone tell me if they are using this motherboard from Asus http://www.asus.com.tw/products4.asp...11&l3=307&l4=0 or what you think of it to work with BYTV. I think it may be overkill but I need as many pci slots as I can get and this mb has 4
Thanks
Wayne

Re: Motherboard

I'm a big believer in getting the mobo right when building a computer, but that said, this thing sure is pricey.

Re: Motherboard

Depends on what you want to do. That's a motherboard for hobbyists/tweakers/eXXTreeme gamers. You don't need nearly that much power or all those options if you want to set up a computer to run BTV with some other standard apps.

Re: Motherboard

Yes I know I don't need that much. But since my old motherboard has 5 pci slots and all full of tuners and most now only have 2 or 3, I run across this mb and since it has 4 pci slots I was looking at it for an update. I posted the same question back in february and got mixed responses on motherboards. I am ready to do an upgrade now and asus boards seam to be the only ones that people don't have problems with. I was also wanting to see if anyone was running this on BYTV and how it was working since some chipsets don't play well with BYTV.

Re: Motherboard

I like to stay away from Via and use nvidia chipsets. I also like Asus boards, but decided to try an Abit board for my Link client PC upgrade. If you really need that many PCI slots here's a Gigabyte AM2 board with 4 PCI slots for $85:

Pair that with a X2 3600+ Brisbane ($60) and you've got a very nice upgrade.

Re: Motherboard

Just a quick note to let everyone know that this mother board seams to be very stable. Have not had any issues with bytv. It has been running about 3 weeks now. Recording 6 inputs and watching recorded shows was showing about 18% on cpu utilization.
