Please help me - drivers needed

hello,

I just bought a WinTV-HVR-1600 Haugppauge from Snapstream, installed it in my vista machine and it can't find any drivers for the pci card. I have gone to the Hauppauge website and downloaded the up to date file...and i tell vista to use this folder to install the driver and it just tells me over and over that Windows could not find the driver.

Please help me,

You should be able to use the Drivers off the WinTV disc that you received with the card to install the HVR-1600.

Windows Vista might also already have drivers built in and installed it already also.

If it doesn't find it still, run HWCLEAR first before you try to reinstall the software.

i have tried both of these attempts..i have run the clear program and i have tried to install off the cd, neither of these find the device. Vista sees the device and and tells me I have a media device plugged and looks for drivers, but it does find any of these in any of the provided sources.

Could it be that Snapstream has sent me the wrong device?

Look on the label on the card itself, it will actually say HVR-1600

Yes sir it does, and i have moved it to another pci slot, and the same thing happens. Windows sees a multimedia card installed, searches for drivers...and finds nothing ...i select the cd..finds nothing...i select the downloaded folder...it finds no drivers and tells me it could not be installed.

ok this is annoying, i tried calling snapstream, says there open until 5pm central time, which is 8pm est and it says they are closed.

I bought this product from snapstream, and it does say it's a HVR-1600
, but something is obviously wrong, if drivers can't be installed for it.

i have also tried to run the HCWDriverinstall.exe and it never lists the 1600 has it cycles through current products...then tells me no device found.

if I just try to install the programs it comes up and asks me to select English and on the next page, it says UNKNOW (OS) at the top of the box

Also, no where in the drivers folder on the cd or the downloaded folder does it list anything about the 1600

i have gone to circuit city and purchased another one, will install and test

AND BEHOLD THE NEW ONE FROM CIRCUIT CITY WORKS FINE!!!!

So I got a card from SnapStream that you can't install drivers for. I have even put the old back in and tried to install from the cd that came with the new one from circuit city and still says drivers not found.

The one i got from Snapstream, appears to be an OEM version, doesn't come with a remote, and even the svideo adapter is missing.

Yes, most of the cards are OEM versions. Usually, drivers are also posted on the SnapStream site, but for some reason the site doesn't have these drivers yet. I'm checking on this.

Meanwhile, for your issue, you can contact tech support to see if they can help you still get your card running. If you think that perhaps the card is defective, you can also just get a refund.

Off topic slightly, but in the interests of fairness;

5pm central time is 6pm est or 3pm PST.

Since I see you posted at 5:22pm CST I presume that you posted as soon as you tried calling, and it was just after their official office hours.

I know that doesn't fix the card, but it might help avert frustration if you're calling for refunds or such in the future.

If I remember right, you have to run the setup program to get the drivers installed, you can't browse to a directory. Are you doing that or you trying to just point it to the setup files?

I downloaded the latest drivers from the site, then instead of doing automatic search of the extracted driver folder, I pointed windows to look in the Drivers\XP folder and mine installed from there, that's what he may have to do on his next time.
